OAKWOOD CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION

APRIL 1, 2024

The Council of the city of Oakwood, Ohio met in a work session on Monday, April 1, 2024 in the conference room at the city building, 30 Park Avenue. The Mayor of the City, William Duncan, presided.

Council members in attendance were Mayor William Duncan, Vice Mayor Steve Byington, Rob Stephens, Leigh Turben and Healy Jackson. Staff in attendance were City Manager Norbert Klopsch and Law Director Rob Jacques.

Mayor Duncan called the work session to order at 6 p.m. and reviewed the agenda for the regular session this evening. Thereafter, he led a discussion on the following work session agenda items:

  • STATUS REPORTS: Mayor Duncan shared that he will present the following proclamations at the regular session this evening:
    • Proclamation recognizing April as “Parkinson’s Awareness Month.”
    • Proclamation recognizing April as “Fair Housing Month.”
    • Proclamation recognizing the week of April 22 as “Arbor Week.”
  • VISITORS:
    • Tori Rhule, Pinwheels for National Child Abuse Awareness: Mayor Duncan noted that Tori Rhule with CARE House, will say a few words about the work of CARE House and the 2024 pinwheel project.
    • Oakwood Inclusion Coalition 2023 Annual Report: Mayor Duncan mentioned that Madeline Iseli, chair of the OIC, will report on the organization’s activities over the last year at the regular session this evening.
  • LEGISLATION: Council discussed the following legislation scheduled for presentation at the regular session this evening:
    • An Ordinance to Proceed with the 2025 Street Lighting Program, Mr. Stephens
    • An Ordinance to Levy Special Assessments for the 2025 Street Lighting, Mr. Stephens
    • An Ordinance to Proceed with the 2024 Sidewalk Repair Program, Mr. Stephens
    • An Ordinance to Levy Special Assessments for the 2023 Sidewalk Repair Project, Mr. Stephens
    • An Ordinance Adopting the 2025 Tax Budget, Vice Mayor Byington
    • An Ordinance to Consider a Proposed Text Amendment to the Sign Regulations of the Zoning Code, Vice Mayor Byington
    • An Ordinance to Amend Lot Split Sections of the Subdivision Code, Vice Mayor Byington
    • An Ordinance to Provide an Appropriation from the Fire Insurance Trust Fund, Vice Mayor Byington
