The mission of Duchesne County Library System is to enrich our residents’ knowledge and inspire their growth. Through these efforts the library envisions our residents empowered to strengthen each other and unite their communities.

Conducting: Chair Jessica Shaw. Meeting called to order at 4:30 pm

Welcome / Roll call: Chair Jessica Shaw, Deb Evans, Commissioner Jeff Chugg, Jesse Walker, Secretary Amy Snow, Jenny Adams, Director Daniel Mauchley, and Vice Chair Kathryn Crapo.

April 2026 minutes approval. The board reviewed the April minutes. Deb Evans made a motion to approve the minutes as written with a 2nd by Jenny Adams. The board approved minutes unanimously.

Recognition of Amy Crockett’s ULA Outreach Award. The board recognized Amy Crockett’s Outreach Award from the Utah Library Association. She oversees the weekly Tabiona offsite library service, the monthly services to Duchesne County Jail and Altamont, and the weekly Homeschool Hour during school months. The board is appreciative of all the work she does for the library and would like to congratulate her on this achievement.

Review of Room Reservation Policy – Requirement of Public Events to Post Notices. The director proposes that those hosting a public event must advertise on the library bulletin board three days prior to the event and place a sign outside of the door during the event. Those who do not meet these required efforts to publicize the event will pay rent to use the library’s room as a private event. The board proposes that notice needs to be posted one week prior to the event instead of 3 days minimum.

Review of Collection Development, Event & Exhibit Policy. The board reviewed the policy and its proposed updates. The board discussed that book challenges take a significant amount of staff time and tax dollar resources. The proposed updates reflect this time consideration by limiting one active request per person at a time. Also, a reviewed item may not be brought for review again until 3 years after the previous review.

Myton Mayor Linda Harrington: Discussion of Potential Shared Services with Myton City’s Library. The mayor was unavailable today. The discussion will be rescheduled for another time.

Review of April/May Statistics/Budget/Consent Agenda. The board reviewed the information. Hoopla had a record month at over 800 circulations. The summer reading kick off parties were a success. The library budget is on track for the year.
