ORDINANCE NO. 2026-011
An Ordinance for the Adjustment of Pay Periods for the Year 2027 in Delaware County, Indiana
WHEREAS, the Delaware County Personnel Handbook and the Delaware County Payroll system created a total of twenty-six (26) pay periods for the year 2026; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to establish a semi-monthly payroll schedule consisting of twenty-four (24) pay periods per calendar year which shall help to reduce costs and increase efficiencies in the County payroll system; and
WHEREAS, pay periods starting in 2027 shall commence on the first (1st) day of each month and continue until the fifteenth (15th) day of the month and the subsequent pay period shall commence on the sixteenth (16th) day of the month and shall end on the last day of the month; and
WHEREAS, payroll checks shall be issued on the day following the end of any pay period by the County Auditor; and
WHEREAS, the County Personnel Handbook shall be amended to reflect the changes setforth in this Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the County shall maintain twenty-four (24) pay periods for 2027 and thereafter and rescind prior ordinances.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DELAWARE COUNTY, INDIANA THAT:
- 1. The Delaware County Auditor shall amend its payroll system for 2027 to establish that all employees will receive twenty-four (24) paychecks for the year 2027 and thereafter.
- 2. Pay periods shall commence on the first day of the month and end on the 15th day of the month and then on the 16th day of the month and end on the last day of the month.
- 3. The County Auditor shall issue payroll payments to the employees of Delaware County on the day after conclusion of a pay period.
