JULY 17, 2023 COUNCIL MEETING

City Council met in a public session on July 17, 2023. Here are the highlights.

Council meeting minutes were approved for the June 5, 2023 regular session, work session and executive session.

VISITORS

  • ➢ May and June Beautification Award Winners – Mayor Bill Duncan recognized the 2023 May and June Beautification Award winners.

LEGISLATION

Oakwood City Council approved the following legislation:

  • ➢ An Ordinance to consider proposed text amendments addressing permitted and special uses in the Neighborhood Business District, Vice Mayor Byington
  • ➢ An Ordinance to consider proposed text amendments addressing permitted and special uses in the Community Business District, Vice Mayor Byington
  • ➢ An Ordinance to consider proposed text amendments addressing miscellaneous clarifications to other provisions in the business zoning districts, Vice Mayor Byington

PUBLIC HEARING

A public hearing was conducted to review text amendments to the permitted and special uses in the business district regulations of the Zoning Code, and to clarify miscellaneous related provisions.

The hearing included a staff report and testimony from two Oakwood residents. By a vote of 5 – 0, said requests were approved.

  • ➢ A Resolution of necessity for the renewal of a 3.75 mill property tax issue, Vice Mayor Byington

AN OAKWOOD MOMENT

  • ➢ Councilmember Rob Stephens highlighted this year’s “That Day in May” event.

CITY MANAGER’S COMMENTS: City Manager Norbert Klopsch provided the following report:

  • ➢ The open house events for the potential roundabout at the Five Points intersection are scheduled for 6 – 8 p.m. on June 14, June 29, and July 11 at the Oakwood Community Center.
  • ➢ The annual asphalt repaving will take place in the next two months. Construction notification postcards with construction dates will be mailed to all impacted property owners.
  • ➢ The 2022 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) for the city’s public water system was published and is available on the city’s website. The CCR report shows that the city operates the public water system in compliance with all state and federal rules.
  • ➢ A presentation detailing the sustainability measures implemented in Oakwood over the past 10-20 years will be available on the city’s website.
