FEBRUARY 4, 2019 COUNCIL MEETING

City Council met in public session on February 4, 2019. Here are the highlights.

Council meeting minutes were approved for the January 7, 2019 regular session, work session and executive session, and the January 28, 2019 work session and executive session.

STATUS REPORTS
  • 2019 State of the City Address – Mayor Bill Duncan delivered the 2019 State of the City Address.
  • Citizen Committee Appointments – There are several vacancies on citizen committees. City Council and City staff are in the process of identifying citizen volunteers for appointment at the March City Council meeting.

VISITORS – There were no visitors wishing to address Council.

LEGISLATION

Oakwood City Council approved the following legislation:

  • A Resolution ratifying and confirming a policy for city credit card accounts.

Oakwood City Council conducted a first reading on the following legislation:

  • An Ordinance to clarify requirements for the removal of abandoned or topped poles in the public rights-of-way.
STAFF REPORT
  • Personnel & Properties Update: Mrs. Jennifer Wilder provided an update on property maintenance, the pre-sale/rental inspection program, the Vectren gas line improvement project, development/construction updates, business updates and personnel updates.
CITY MANAGER’S COMMENTS

City Manager Norbert Klopsch recognized the Public Works Department for all of their efforts during the recent snow events and cold weather, particularly regarding refuse collection.

The annual Sidewalk, Curb and Driveway Apron Project will take place in the area bounded by Far Hills, Aberdeen, Shroyer, Acorn and Patterson. Public Works Foreman David Shuey will begin marking the sidewalks and other concrete structures requiring repair, and residents will be notified in April of their responsibilities.

Mr. Klopsch shared that Mrs. Wilder is coming up on her one year anniversary of joining city staff. He thanked her for all of her hard work over the past year.

COUNCIL COMMENTS
  • Mayor Bill Duncan shared that he and his wife celebrated their 45th anniversary last December. He then shared that today is her birthday, and he wished her a happy birthday.
