ARTISTIC JOURNEY
Jabz York's development can be understood as:
Steelpan musician → Songwriter → Multi-instrumentalist → Recording Artist → Producer → Performer → Independent Music Entrepreneur
His relationship with music began at the age of four through steelpan in Sint Maarten. From there, his musical abilities expanded into keyboard, bass guitar, drums, saxophone, songwriting, vocal performance and digital music production.
During his school years, he began creating original music and producing instrumental arrangements using digital production software. These early experiments developed into an independent recording practice and eventually into professional releases under the name Jabz York.
His development has been shaped by both practical experience and formal music education.
In 2015, he became the first person in Sint Maarten to sit and pass the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Music examination with a Triple-A distinction.
He subsequently received scholarship support to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he has continued his musical education and professional development.
His experience also includes exposure to international music-industry environments through ASCAP activities, workshops, A&R showcases and the broader Berklee music community.
