Mr. Stephens reminded everyone of “That Day in May” on Saturday, May 20. He said there is a full slate of activities which includes: the pancake breakfast, 5K and 10K runs, annual parade down Shafor Blvd., and afternoon games and rides, which will be in the area between the stadium and the Jr. High School on Schantz Ave. Tickets are available at the Oakwood Community Center.
Vice Mayor Byington congratulated the Oakwood High School Academic Decathlon Team for winning the National Title for the sixth straight year. He suggested that the team be invited to a future Council meeting to recognize this incredible accomplishment.
Mayor Duncan shared that it appears that the centralized income tax collection proposal has been removed from Governor Kasich’s budget; however another reduction in municipal revenues driven by lobbyist for the distribution industry remains in the budget bill. Unfortunately, nothing will be definite until the budget is voted on in June. Mayor Duncan shared that he is looking forward to the Budget Review Committee meeting with State Senator Peggy Lehner and State Representative Jim Butler. Mayor Duncan encouraged citizens to attend “That Day in May”.
