OCTOBER 2, 2023 COUNCIL MEETING

City Council met in a public session on October 2, 2023. Here are the highlights.

Council meeting minutes were approved for the September 18, 2023 regular session, work session and executive session.

Mayor Duncan reported that the 3.75 mill property tax renewal issue will not be on the November 7 ballot as originally planned. The city took all of the proper actions to place the renewal levy on the ballot but, as a result of a clerical error, the final paperwork was sent to the Montgomery County Auditor, rather than the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

City Manager Norbert Klopsch commented on the opt-in electricity aggregation program and provided construction updates.

• Councilmember Leigh Turben shared that the Oakwood Historical Society announced a walking tour through Woodland Cemetery on October 22, 2023. Additional information on the event is available on The Oakwood Historical Society’s website.
• Vice Mayor Steve Byington reminded everyone that the next Styrofoam recycling event is on Saturday, October 14 at the Public Works Center. He thanked city staff for organizing the annual document shred event last weekend.
• Mayor Bill Duncan shared that he utilized the shred event last weekend. It was very well attended with more than 75 vehicles in the first hour of the event. Mayor Duncan thanked city staff for organizing and working the event.
