A Shared Certified Retail Food Establishment
Facility Registration
Food service providers that operate under a Catering permit are required to have a Certified Retail Food Establishment location registered with the DCHD. A Certified Retail Food Establishment facility as defined under 410 IAC 7-24-79 is:
- (A) A restaurant.
- (B) A satellite or catered feeding location.
- (C) A catering operation if the operation provides food directly to a consumer or to a conveyance used to transport people.
- (D) A market.
- (E) A grocery store.
- (F) A convenience store. And etc.
As part of the food service operation, a Certified Retail Food Establishment location is subject to DCHD inspection and regulation. The following are DCHD requirements that must be agreed to by both the party in charge of the Certified Retail Food Establishment and the Catering Operation to allow the sharing of the facility.
- ➢ The Certified Retail Food Establishment will designate all necessary space for use by the Catering operation only, ensuring this space is used for no other purpose, and attaching a drawing of the designated space and equipment. This includes no co-mingling with other businesses’ products.
- ➢ The Certified Retail Food Establishment understands that the Catering operation may only prepare, processes, and cook food in the Certified Retail Food Establishment.
- ➢ The Certified Retail Food Establishment is for food and dry goods storage, and shall be equipped with running water, sewage disposal, and electricity.
- ➢ The Certified Retail Food Establishment will allow access by the Catering business owner or operator at all times necessary to accommodate the Catering’s hours.
- ➢ The Certified Retail Food Establishment acknowledges that the facility is subject to inspection by DCHD staff, allowing access at all necessary times.
- ➢ The Certified Retail Food Establishment will notify the DCHD if at any time they feel that their facility is not being used by the Catering operation in an appropriate manner.
- ➢ The Certified Retail Food Establishment understands and accepts that it may be held for any liability issues that arise from their allowing other participants to be a part of the Certified Retail Food Establishment facility.
- ➢ New Shared Certified Food Establishments Facilities must be approved by the Delaware County Health Department.
By signing below, both parties agree to abide by the requirements set forth in any applicable food code or statue, including the requirements and standards delineated above.
