NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OAKWOOD, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, OHIO:
SECTION I.
The Council of the city of Oakwood accords very special public recognition to Norbert S. Klopsch for his 32 years of outstanding public service to the city of Oakwood.
SECTION II.
On behalf of all Oakwood residents and businesses, and members of city staff, past and present, City Council expresses sincere thanks to Norbert S. Klopsch for his many contributions to the Oakwood community, contributions that can be seen readily throughout the city and will remain as a long-standing testament to his public service.
Thereupon, it was moved by Mayor Duncan and seconded by Vice Mayor Byington that the resolution be approved.
Upon call of the roll on the question of the motion, the following vote was recorded:
There being five (5) yea votes and no (0) nay votes thereon, said resolution was declared duly denied and it was so ordered.
Mayor Duncan invited Mr. Klopsch to say a few words.
Mr. Klopsch said he has used two words to describe his retirement, bittersweet and blessed. It is bittersweet because he will miss all of the people he had the privilege of working with. He has been blessed to live and work in this outstanding community for 32 years. He will treasure watching the city continue to thrive.
Mayor Duncan reminded everyone of the open house to recognize Mr. Klopsch’s achievements scheduled from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 7 at the Oakwood Community Center.
A copy of the ordinance, having been placed on the desks of each member of Council prior to introduction, was read by title.
Mr. Stephens explained that each year, an annual house-keeping ordinance is passed to align Oakwood’s local traffic and general offense ordinances with changes that have been made at the state level. This ordinance will adopt the 2024 replacement pages for the Traffic Code and the General Offenses Code.
This was a first reading of the ordinance, so Mr. Stephens made no motion.
Leisure Services Report: Ms. Carol Collins, Leisure Services Director, referenced a PowerPoint and reviewed the following information:
A new pool liner was installed in the entirety of the large pool and baby pool this spring. The cost was $110,808. Oakwood residents were able to enjoy a summer of fun and activities for the family. Gardner Pool finished the 2024 season with 546 family pool memberships purchased, 77 single memberships and 123 senior memberships. The total revenue for Gardner Pool was $260,500 compared to $252,253 in 2023.
The 14th annual Dog Splash was a successful event. There were 40 participants in the 2024 event.
This year’s Scarecrow Row and the Family Fall Festival was held on Sunday, October 13. There were 25 participants in Scarecrow Row and the weather was beautiful for this great community event.
