NOVEMBER 4, 2019 COUNCIL MEETING

City Council met in public session on November 4, 2019. Here are the highlights.

Council meeting minutes were approved for the October 7, 2019 regular session, work session and executive session and the October 28 executive session.

STATUS REPORTS

Lieutenant Promotion – Vice Mayor Steve Byington presided over a promotion ceremony for PSO Damian Baggett and administered the Oath of Office. Chief Hill assisted and made some comments on the promotional process and PSO Baggett’s accomplishments.

VISITORS

Scarecrow Row Award Winners – Vice Mayor Steve Byington recognized the 2019 Scarecrow Row award winners.
Beautification Award Winners – Vice Mayor Steve Byington recognized the 2019 Beautification award winners.
Five Oakwood residents addressed City Council regarding perceptions in Oakwood.

LEGISLATION

Oakwood City Council approved the following legislation:

An Ordinance to amend 2019 appropriations to pay off the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Liability and to purchase a vehicle for the Director of Engineering and Public Works.

Oakwood City Council conducted a first reading on the following legislation:

An Ordinance to approve updates to the Traffic and General Offenses Codes.

COUNCIL COMMENTS

Councilmember Rob Stephens thanked the Oakwood Public Safety Department for doing a great job in responding to the power outages that occurred throughout the city this morning.
Vice Mayor Steve Byington congratulated Lieutenant Baggett for his promotion. He then reminded everyone that tomorrow is Election Day and encouraged everyone to vote.
