Katie has been married to her spouse, Joel, for 24 years. They have two children. Katie possesses all the skills and attributes needed to lead our wonderful city and she is also blessed with an outstanding group of department directors.

When I joined City Council in 2003, it was my belief that Oakwood was well governed, well managed and financially strong. I still hold that belief and will continue this tradition.

With the help of City Council, city staff and the citizens of Oakwood, we will continue to be well governed, well managed and financially strong.

Citizen Committee Appointments: Mayor Duncan presented the following list of reappointments and appointments to various citizen committees:

The reappointment of Sarena Kelley and Gregg Smith to the Beautification Committee, Bill Draper to the Property Maintenance Board, and the appointment of Brian Cox and George LeBoeuf to the Budget Review Committee.

It was moved by Mayor Duncan and seconded by Mr. Stephens that the aforementioned appointments be confirmed. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, the same passed unanimously, and it was so ordered.

CITY MANAGER’S COMMENTS

Mrs. Smiddy reported that the Leisure Services Department is accepting summer employment applications for several positions.

Mrs. Smiddy recognized the Oakwood employees with February birthdays and work anniversaries.

COUNCIL COMMENTS

Mrs. Jackson shared that this past Saturday, volunteers from the Oakwood Rotary Club collected and disposed of hazardous waste. She thanked residents who use this service and the Rotarians who provide this service.

Mrs. Turben reported that the groundhog predicted six more weeks of winter.

Mr. Stephens commended Mayor Duncan on another well-done State of the City address and recognized Carl Suchomel, who retired from the Miami Valley Communication Council after 31 years of service.

Vice Mayor Byington stated that it is an honor to serve on City Council for the great community of Oakwood.
