SEPTEMBER 20, 2021 COUNCIL MEETING

Public Safety Recognition – Chief Alan Hill recognized Captain Kevin Pruszynski and Dispatcher Jennifer Anderson for their lifesaving actions during a Roanoke fire emergency.

Human Services Levy Campaign, Madeline Iseli: Ms. Iseli recognized the efforts of an Oakwood Public Safety Officer on a recent call involving two gentlemen with mental health issues, and then provided information regarding a Human Services levy renewal that will appear on the November 2, 2021 ballot.

July and August Beautification Award Winners: A video was shown featuring the 2021 July and August Beautification Award winners. The certificates will be mailed to the winners.

A Resolution to ratify signature on opioid settlement agreement, Vice Mayor Byington

A Resolution to approve existing property tax amounts and rates, Vice Mayor Byington

Public Works Update: Mr. Doug Spitler, Engineering and Public Works Director, updated Council on various Public Works projects and operations.

Councilmember Rob Stephens recognized the Oakwood High School Marching Band concert at The Farm.

City Manager Norb Klopsch thanked Ms. Stacel and Mrs. Wilder for their assistance in managing the audio/visual equipment during the meeting. He then shared his appreciation for all of the efforts and work done by the Public Works Department.

Councilmember Leigh Turben shared that the annual shred event is scheduled from 8 – 11 a.m. this Saturday, September 25 at the Public Works Center. She encouraged everyone to vote on November 2.

Mayor Bill Duncan read a letter from an Oakwood resident recognizing an Oakwood Public Safety Officer, and he closed the meeting by honoring the 13 United States service members killed in action on August 26, 2021 at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan.
