• AN OAKWOOD MOMENT: Mrs. Turben shared that she will present the “Oakwood Moment” at the regular session highlighting the trees and flowers blooming in Oakwood. Mr. Klopsch commented that Leisure Services Director Carol Collins and Horticulturist Brian Caldwell will attend the meeting.

  • Public Utilities/Waterworks/Sewer, Mrs. Turben
    • Far Hills Storm Sewer Reconstruction Project: Mr. Klopsch commented on a preliminary draft of a user friendly information page being developed for the city website that will provide easily accessible weekly construction updates.
    • Styrofoam Recycling: Mr. Klopsch commented on the April 22 Styrofoam recycling event and the difficulty the Green Oakwood group is experiencing in finding volunteers to assist with the quarterly events.
    • Recycling in Oakwood – Earth Day Events: Mr. Klopsch shared that Engineering and Public Works Director Doug Spitler participated in the “Recycling Update” panel during the April 22 Earth Day weekend events.
• REGIONAL AGENCIES
  • First Suburbs, Vice Mayor Byington
    • April 26 Strategic Planning Session: Mr. Klopsch reported that the April 26 First Suburbs meeting was a three hour strategic planning session, and was well done. There were approximately 25 attendees, including himself, Vice Mayor Byington, Councilmember Turben and former Mayor Judy Cook.
• BOARDS & COMMISSIONS
  • Historical Society, Mrs. Turben
    • Historic Markers: Mr. Klopsch shared that Dayton History supports placing a historic marker at Hawthorn Hill near the driveway apron off of Harman Avenue. The city offered to provide a boulder for this marker. The Kramer Pleasure Gardens and Four Mile Tavern markers were manufactured this week. The Schantz Park Historic District marker should be completed around the middle of May.
