Lane Stadium: Mr. Klopsch mentioned that the Lane Stadium grand opening celebration is scheduled for 9 a.m. this Saturday, March 11.

Schenck and Oakwood Pocket Park: Mr. Weiskircher provided an overview on the plans for playground enhancements at the Schenck and Oakwood Pocket Park. He also reviewed a grant application that will be submitted through the Montgomery County Solid Waste Incentive Grant Program. Much of the playground components would be manufactured through recycled plastic, making the project eligible for this grant.

Public Utilities/Waterworks/Sewer, Mr. Epley

Shroyer Road Sanitary Sewer: Not discussed.

Lead Service Lines: Mr. Klopsch provided an overview on a new Ohio EPA requirement that directs all Public Water Systems in Ohio to identify areas within their water systems where water service piping does or may contain materials with some amounts of lead content. The maps are due on Thursday, March 9. Mr. Klopsch reported that the city of Oakwood continuously operates its water system in compliance with all EPA requirements, including having an OEPA licensed operator overseeing the system.

Brookdale Water Meter: Mr. Klopsch reported that he met earlier today with Councilmembers Epley and Stephens (Council Committee for Public Utilities) to provide details on a water meter issue at the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility. Improper water use readings were reported for a period of nearly three years, before Brookdale questioned invoice amounts. After a thorough study of the situation, it was determined that a significant refund of overpayment was in order. Staff is working with Brookdale to complete this transaction.

Environmental Committee, Mr. Stephens

Sustainability: Council discussed the effort amongst a few Oakwood citizens to promote recycling and sustainability measures. Councilmembers Epley and Stephens will join Mr. Klopsch in a meeting with Dr. Masha Kisel, leader of this group. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the overall goals and objectives of this grassroots effort.
