  • Traffic Enforcement: Mr. Klopsch and Chief Hill commented on Oakwood’s continuing emphasis on enforcing traffic laws throughout the community. Mr. Klopsch noted that the city of Los Angeles is joining several other cities in America in discontinuing the policing practice of stopping motor vehicles for minor violations.
  • 988 and Crisis Now Program: Mr. Klopsch and Chief Hill provided an update on the national 988 and Crisis Now program. Mr. Klopsch described a discussion that took place at the April 27 meeting of the Dayton First Suburbs group. Major concerns were expressed about the manner in which the 988 program is being designed and implemented.

  • Committee Appointments: Council discussed the appointment scheduled for the regular session this evening.
  • Oakwood High School Academic Decathlon Team: Mr. Klopsch shared that he spoke with Oakwood School Superintendent Dr. Kyle Ramey about recognizing the Academic Decathlon team for winning their 10th straight Division III national title at the June 6 council meeting.
  • Mosquito Spraying: Mr. Klopsch commented on last week’s Register letter to the editor discouraging mosquito spraying.

Magistrate Jacqueline Gaines joined the meeting at 7:15 p.m. She introduced herself to City Council and shared that she is a candidate for Montgomery County Judge in the May 3 primary election.

At 7:25 p.m., Mayor Duncan concluded the work session and Council moved to regular session.
