- • Provide direct supervision and management over staff
- • Organize and assign work activities and projects, manage programs, monitor workflow, and review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures.
- • Evaluate current business processes and systems, implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency and to establish and maintain controls.
- • Prepare or direct the preparation of biennial and interim budget requests for the division or program(s), determine priorities among requests and explain the needs for additional funds for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies to higher-level officials to obtain the resources necessary to implement programs. Implement and monitor work plans and the budget to achieve division/program goals and performance measures. Monitor performance against the division/program budget.
- • Provide specialized information, analysis, interpretation or application of laws, rules, policies, procedures, or program requirements. Develop or recommend new laws, rules, policies, or procedures to address emerging trends.
- • Execute and coordinate wildland fire management plans, response operations, and large fire management. Facilitate or participate in various committees and meetings with federal, state, local, tribal governments, and community partners.

- • Wildfire behavior, Fire weather, wildland fuel mitigation practices, home hardening and defensible space standards
- • GIS technology and concepts

- • Laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines regarding the management and monitoring of ecosystems and natural resources, including endangered and non-native species, in order to assure that program goals and objectives meet legal requirements and reflect regional priorities and policies
