• Water System Consumer Confidence Report (CCR): The June/July Oakwood Scene newsletter will include information about the operation of the city’s water system during the 2022 calendar year and will reference publication of the annual CCR. The CCR shows that the city operates the public water system in compliance with all state and federal rules.
• Annual Financial Audit: The 2022 financial audit has been performed. There were no items noted by the auditors so the city anticipates an unqualified “clean” opinion, which is the best opinion.
• Five Points Intersection: Mr. Klopsch displayed an aerial map of the current Five Points signalized intersection showing Far Hills Avenue, Oakwood Avenue and Thruston Boulevard. He commented on the current movement of vehicle and pedestrian traffic through the Five Points intersection and the study of a roundabout design. The main purpose of this potential project is to slow down vehicles and to improve safety at the intersection. The traffic signal study that began last year found that a roundabout intersection design was worth exploring given the vehicle and pedestrian movements, volumes and adjacent land ownership. This type of project would likely qualify for state and/or federal grants, but could take approximately 4-5 years before it is funded. Mr. Klopsch displayed a conceptual plan to show how a roundabout might be designed at the Five Points intersection. There was discussion on the traffic flow of the potential roundabout as well as control options for pedestrian safety. Mr. Klopsch played a video showing how a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) signal can be used to address pedestrian traffic. An information mailer will be delivered to every residence and business in Oakwood with an invitation to three open houses that will be held to get citizen input and feedback. The community open house events will be conducted from 6 – 8 p.m. on June 14, June 29, and July 11 at the Oakwood Community Center.

Mayor Duncan shared that he recently saw the Oakwood RTA bus on Jefferson Street in Downtown Dayton.

Mayor Duncan mentioned that there is a meeting conflict for the November 28 Board of Health meeting. Mr. Klopsch noted that he will look into rescheduling that meeting.
