NO 5012

An Ordinance to Set the Maximum Compensation of the Oakwood Municipal Court Clerk, Deputy Clerk of Court, and Bailiff, and to Declare an Emergency.

A copy of the ordinance, having been placed on the desks of each member of Council prior to introduction, was read by title.

Vice Mayor Byington explained that by law, the Oakwood Municipal Judge determines the actual salary for each court employee, but City Council is responsible for setting the maximum amount to be paid for each job classification within the court. This ordinance will increase the maximum compensation for all court employee job classifications by 2.95%, consistent with increases for union and non-bargaining unit employees.

Thereupon, it was moved by Vice Mayor Byington and seconded by Mrs. Turben that the ordinance be passed as an emergency measure.

Upon call of the roll on the question of the motion, the following vote was recorded:

There being five (5) yea votes and no (0) nay votes thereon, said ordinance was declared duly passed and it was so ordered.

An Ordinance

An Ordinance to Establish an Amendment to the Organization and Staffing Schedule for the Purpose of Modifying the Administrative Support Classifications within the Safety Department to Include a Full-Time and a Part-Time Department Head Administrative Assistant/Records Clerk; and Declaring an Emergency.

A copy of the ordinance, having been placed on the desks of each member of Council prior to introduction, was read by title.

Vice Mayor Byington explained that this is the ordinance to update the Organization and Staffing Schedule so it reflects the city’s current staffing needs.

Thereupon, it was moved by Vice Mayor Byington and seconded by Mr. Stephens that the ordinance be passed as an emergency measure.

STAFF REPORT – Mayor Duncan shared that there is no staff report this evening.

CITY MANAGER REPORT – Mrs. Smiddy reported the following:
The Holiday of Lights Ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 at Shafor Park. She encouraged everyone to attend.

This year’s leaf pickup is scheduled to conclude on Friday, December 20. Holiday trees will be picked up according to the normal yard debris collection schedule. Trees should be placed at the property frontage as close to the curb as possible.

Mrs. Smiddy recognized and wished the Oakwood employees born in December a happy birthday.
