MVCC, Mr. Epley

Fiber Optic Project: Mr. Klopsch reviewed the status of the MVCC fiber optic project. While there remain a number of unanswered questions, the MVCC City Managers are ready to move forward with this project with the understanding that the unanswered questions will be addressed as the project continues to unfold.

First Suburbs, Vice Mayor Byington

September 19 Meeting in Oakwood: Mr. Klopsch noted that the First Suburbs group will hold their monthly meeting in Oakwood this Wednesday, September 19. The meeting will be conducted in the Council Chambers.

BOARDS & COMMISSIONS

Environmental Committee, Mr. Stephens

Beautification Committee: Mr. Klopsch mentioned that he and Carol Collins recently discussed the notion of renaming the Environmental Committee as the Beautification Committee. This would be a return to the original name of this committee and better fits the work of this citizen group. This matter will be discussed more at the next work session.

MISCELLANEOUS

Representative Jim Butler at October 1 Meeting: Mr. Klopsch noted that Representative Butler will address Council at the October 1 regular session.

Holiday Turkey/Ham: Mr. Klopsch presented his recommendation that all full-time and permanent part-time employees again receive a DLM gift certificate for a holiday turkey/ham. There being no objections, Mr. Klopsch will see that this action takes place.

Health Commissioner: Mr. Klopsch noted that Dr. Richard Garrison will be retiring as Oakwood Health Commissioner at the end of 2018. Mr. Klopsch and Dr. Garrison will meet on Tuesday, September 25 to discuss a replacement. Later that day, Mr. Klopsch will discuss this matter with the Board of Health.
