      • Lawn Treatments: Mr. Klopsch and Ms. Collins commented on the city’s policy on application of lawn treatments and on a recent inspection by the Ohio Department of Agriculture where no violations were identified.
      • Smith Gardens 50th Anniversary: Mr. Klopsch shared that on Sunday, August 18, the city will have a special event and blanket concert at the Gardens to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Oakwood receiving Smith Memorial Gardens. It will include recognition of Carol Collins reaching the 50-year milestone as an Oakwood employee.

  • Public Utilities/Waterworks/Sewer, Mrs. Turben
    • Montgomery County Environmental Services at August 19 Work Session: Mr. Klopsch recommended that Education and Outreach Manager John Minear be invited to attend the August 19 work session to discuss all the various programs and services offered by Montgomery County Environmental Services, including the new food waste recycling program and Hefty ReNew recycling program. Council concurred.
  • Streets & Alleys, Mr. Stephens
    • Far Hills Resurfacing: Mr. Klopsch shared that the resurfacing of Far Hills Avenue began last week. Barrett Paving is making good progress.
    • Sidewalk, Curb and Driveway Apron Program: Mr. Klopsch noted that this year’s Sidewalk, Curb and Driveway Apron Project is taking place in the Far Hills business district.
    • Concrete Street Repairs: Mr. Klopsch reported that the concrete roadway repair work on the northern portion of Raleigh Road, the northern portion of Devereux Drive, and on Woodstock Drive and Ashridge Road will take place in late summer and throughout the fall.
    • Harman Boulevard Median: Mr. Klopsch confirmed that staff is moving forward with plans to build a center median in the 400 block of Harman Boulevard.
  • BOARDS & COMMISSIONS
    • Historical Society, Mrs. Jackson
      • Long-Romspert Use: Mr. Klopsch noted that the Planning Commission met on July 3 and reviewed an application from The Oakwood Historical Society requesting extended hours and authorization for additional uses at the Long-Romspert Homestead/House Museum. The PC tabled the application and requested additional information such as specific uses envisioned on the property, transportation and parking plans, noise restrictions, and interior and exterior occupancy limits.
  • MISCELLANEOUS
    • Gas-powered Landscaping Equipment: Mr. Klopsch shared that he recently met with Oakwood residents Tim Benford and Pam Schwartz to discuss concerns about noise and air pollution in the city caused by gas-powered landscaping equipment and the increased availability of battery-powered equipment.
