A copy of the resolution, having been placed on the desks of each member of Council prior to introduction, was read by title.

Mr. Stephens explained that each year, the city incurs costs for mowing and clearing overgrown yards and removing nuisance plant material when owners do not take care of their property. The city bills property owners for those costs and most of them pay. For those who do not pay, this is our annual resolution to certify the costs to the County Auditor so they can be added to the tax bill for each property. This certification includes five properties at a total outstanding dollar amount of $1,320.87.

Thereupon, it was moved by Mr. Stephens and seconded by Mrs. Turben that the resolution be passed.

Upon call of the roll on the question of the motion, the following vote was recorded:

There being five (5) yea votes and no (0) nay votes thereon, said resolution was declared duly passed and it was so ordered.

Mayor Duncan explained that in 2003, Oakwood entered into a multi-jurisdictional agreement that allows the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management to provide emergency management services to communities throughout the county. These services are a critical part of the city’s emergency response planning.

The agreement has been updated periodically since its implementation 22 years ago. Montgomery County has proposed an updated and revised agreement that is generally similar to the original agreement and does not substantively change how Oakwood will interact with the Office of Emergency Management. The new agreement should continue to meet the emergency management needs of Oakwood and the region the City Manager has recommended that Council approve it.

The resolution I am introducing will authorize the city’s continued participation in this multi-jurisdictional agreement.

Thereupon, it was moved by Mayor Duncan and seconded by Mr. Stephens that the resolution be passed.
