Council members commented on the service of Rob Stephens.
Mr. Stephens thanked everyone for the kind words. Enjoyed his time on council. Learned something new every day. Thanked his family. Thanked previous and existing city staff for everything they do.
CITY MANAGER’S COMMENTS: Mrs. Smiddy reported the following:
A public information meeting about the City’s energy aggregation program will be held on Wednesday, December 17, at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Room at the Oakwood Community Center.
The annual Holiday of Lights Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, December 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Shafor Park. Everyone is encouraged to attend and consider volunteering.
The last day to participate in the community survey requesting feedback on future park and recreation improvements is this Friday, December 5. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the survey.
Mrs. Smiddy thanked Council Member Stephens for his support of residents and city staff. She thanked him for his guidance and leadership.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Mrs. Jackson expressed her gratitude to Mr. Stephens for his service to the Oakwood community. She wished everyone a safe holiday season and invited the community to attend the Oakwood Historical Society's open house.
Mrs. Turben also thanked Mr. Stephens for his contributions to the Oakwood community. She invited everyone to ring in the holidays at the Shops of Oakwood from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. The Oakwood Historical Society's open house will be this Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m., featuring hot cider and cookies.
Mr. Stephens congratulated and recognized Miamisburg City Manager Keith Johnson on his retirement. He also congratulated Stephen Harding, a council member in Springboro and a representative on the Miami Valley Communications Council board. Mr. Stephens expressed his gratitude to everyone and acknowledged the outstanding city staff.
Vice Mayor Byington shared that it was an honor working with Mr. Stephens. He encouraged everyone to shop locally in Oakwood and the Miami Valley area. The next council meeting will be on January 5, where Sam Dorf will be sworn in, and the council looks forward to working with him.
