- Dayton Development Coalition (DDC) Fly-in: Mayor Duncan shared that he and City Manager Katie Smiddy will be attending the DDC Fly-in from May 12-15, 2025 in Washington, D.C.
- Finance Director position: Mrs. Smiddy updated Council on the status of hiring for this critical need.
- School crossing guards: Mrs. Smiddy updated Council on aspects of the city’s agreement with the school district for provision of crossing guards.
- RFP for pool management services: Mrs. Smiddy updated Council about plans to use an outside management firm to handle the City’s pool operations.
- Oakwood’s Retail/Business District Liaison: Council approved the addition of a new Liaison for Oakwood’s Retail/Business Districts under Council Committees. Council Member Turben will be the chair and Council Member Jackson as the alternate. This committee will work in the same capacity as the other committees, such as Sister Cities and the Oakwood Historical Society to support Oakwood’s business and retail districts.
- Gardner Pool: Council Member Jackson proposed that staff investigate the feasibility of offering senior citizens free admission to the Gardner pool during the last two hours of pool operations as a no-cost perk to Oakwood senior citizens to promote a sense of community.
At 6:53 p.m., Mayor Duncan concluded the work session and moved to an executive session for conference with attorney.
At 7:06 p.m., Mayor Duncan concluded the executive session and adjourned the meeting.
