EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION EVENTS

POLICY: This document states the city’s policy and procedures for planning and paying for employee recognition events such as retirements, holiday luncheons and any other special events (“events”) conducted for the benefit of employees. It also addresses the purchasing of gifts.

PURPOSE: This policy is established to provide guidelines on the manner in which events are planned and how they are funded, and the purchasing of gifts.

AUTHORIZATION: Through the annual budget adopted by Oakwood City Council (“Council”), funds are appropriated for Employee Recognition. Additionally, through the annual Personnel Schedule adopted by Council, the city manager is authorized to furnish special luncheons for staff.

GENERAL PROVISIONS:

1. Event Planning: The city manager may plan and execute events consistent with authorization granted by Council though the Personnel Schedule and annual budget. Department heads and the managers of human resources and planning & zoning (“senior staff”) are authorized to plan and execute events, but only after receiving prior written approval of the city manager. Events include luncheons, receptions and any other similar gatherings that are conducted to recognize an employee or group of employees for such things as job performance, service milestones or the like.
