• AN OAKWOOD MOMENT: Mrs. Hilton shared that she will present the “An Oakwood Moment” at the regular session highlighting Dayton History as part of Oakwood’s heritage.
  • COUNCIL COMMITTEES
    • Finance, Vice Mayor Byington
      • 2021 Audit: Mr. Klopsch reported that the Oakwood Finance Department was again awarded the Auditor of State Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting. Finance Director Cindy Stafford, CPA, will attend the regular session this evening to be recognized.
    • Safety & Traffic, Mr. Stephens
      • Far Hills Pedestrian Crossings: Mr. Klopsch shared that city staff recently evaluated the pedestrian crossing signage along Far Hills Avenue and will install 16 new pedestrian crossing signs before school starts on August 17. Two signs will be installed at each of eight crosswalks, four on northbound Far Hills and four on southbound Far Hills at the intersections where adult crossing guards are posted.
      • All-way Stops: Mr. Klopsch commented on a recent request for installation of a 4-way stop at the intersection of Volusia Avenue and Sorrento Avenue. The Safety Department and engineering staff analyzed the intersection and recommended against adding the stop on Volusia Avenue.
  • BOARDS & COMMISSIONS
    • Historical Society, Mrs. Turben
      • Historical Marker Project: Mr. Klopsch reported that Debra Edwards will attend the August 15 work session at 5 p.m. for a discussion about future markers, including one for the Runnymede Playhouse.
    • Board of Health, Mayor Duncan
      • Dr. Wilson Resignation: Mr. Klopsch shared that Dr. Sallie Wilson and her husband are moving from Oakwood at the end of September so she will no longer serve on the Board of Health, and he will no longer serve on the Budget Review Committee.
  • MISCELLANEOUS
    • Natural Gas and Electricity Purchasing in Ohio: Mr. Klopsch mentioned that discussions continue in the Dayton region on options for the purchase of natural gas and electricity, including community aggregation.
