    • Mrs. Smiddy informed Council that December 9, 2026 will be the last day for Kettering’s mayor, Peggy Lehner.
    • Mrs. Smiddy updated Council on the status of the streetlighting contract being negotiated via Miami Valley Communications Council. AES initially proposed figures that are approximately 20% higher than the previous contract, which were rejected. Negotiations are ongoing.
    • Mrs. Smiddy informed Council about a new wellness program being promoted by Scott McGohan, known as “One Morning.” It is a low-cost program, and the City will likely join.
    • Mrs. Smiddy updated Council on her meetings with the Beautification Committee, and the possibility that members of Green Oakwood may join the committee. There will be a recap meeting on December 18, following the luminaria event; she hopes to include Green Oakwood so they can get a sense of how City committees work.
    • Mrs. Smiddy noted that a Council retreat for new Councilmember orientation will take place tomorrow, December 2.
    • Mrs. Smiddy provided an update on recent crossing guard departures. City staff continues to work with the schools on these staffing issues.
    • Mrs. Turben noted that she received a citizen email about water and sewer rate increases. She plans to respond.
    • Mayor Duncan noted that he is working on an updated slate of Council committee assignments. A draft was circulated for future discussion.
    • Mayor Duncan led a short discussion on the process for handling the City Manager’s annual performance review.
    • A brief discussion was held to address several final questions from Mrs. Turben and Mrs. Jackson regarding: temporary yard signs of a commercial nature; temporary event permits; the ongoing parks survey; the City’s Facebook page; the status of meetings to discuss the Far Hills Avenue/Rubicon Road intersection; and the pending Fishbeck study of the City’s water infrastructure.

At 7:26 p.m., Mayor Duncan concluded the work session, and Council moved to regular session.
