CITY OF OAKWOOD

FEBRUARY 5, 2018

The Council of the city of Oakwood, State of Ohio, met in a work session and executive session at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the city of Oakwood, 30 Park Avenue, Oakwood, Ohio, 45419. Council then met in a regular session at 7:30 p.m., in the council chambers of the city of Oakwood.

The Mayor, Mr. William Duncan, presided, and the Clerk of Council, Ms. Lori Stacel, recorded. Mayor Duncan opened the meeting by asking all present to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Upon call of the roll, the following members of Council responded to their names:

Sam Nicholaisen, 265 Volusia Avenue, Oakwood, OH 45409
Brian Barr, Oakwood Register

Mrs. Hilton advised Council she had read the meeting minutes of the January 2, 2018 regular session, work session and executive session. Mrs. Hilton reported she found the minutes correct and complete. Therefore, it was moved by Mrs. Hilton and seconded by Mr. Stephens that the minutes of the sessions of Council aforementioned be approved as written and the reading thereof at this session be dispensed with. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, same passed unanimously and it was so ordered.

STATUS REPORTS – Mayor Duncan shared that he will be delivering his State of the City Address at the March City Council meeting.

VISITORS

Sam Nicholaisen, 265 Volusia Avenue, shared that he chose to honor past, present and future field commanders and band directors as his Eagle Scout project. A plaque, located outside of the Oakwood High School band room, honors all past field commanders and directors, while leaving room for the project to continue through 2070.

Mayor Duncan wished Mr. Nicholaisen luck on earning his Eagle Scout badge.

Gary Haines, 223 Oakwood Avenue, shared that he is the crossing guard at the intersection of Far Hills Avenue and Park Avenue. He asked if crosswalk signs could be placed on the poles going both northbound and southbound to alert traffic of the crosswalk.

Mayor Duncan asked City Manager Norbert Klopsch to look into this request. City Council thanked Mr. Haines, and all crossing guards, for their service to the Oakwood community.

STAFF REPORT – NONE

CITY MANAGER’S COMMENTS – Mr. Klopsch provided an update on the following items:

The annual Sidewalk, Curb and Driveway Apron Project will take place in the area bounded by Far Hills Avenue, Aberdeen Avenue, Shroyer Road and East Drive. Public Works Foreman David Shuey will begin marking the sidewalks and residents will be notified in April of their responsibilities.
