Mr. Hauser shared that the trash cans would be situated to the right of where the garage currently sits, concealed behind a fence. This is the same location where they are kept currently; the only difference would be the demolition of the garage.

Wayne Hawkins, 68 Wisteria Drive, was sworn in. He stated that while he does not have objections regarding the addition, he is concerned about the parking situation on the street.

Mr. Hauser assured him that there would be no changes to the existing parking arrangements.

Christina Duda of 73 E. Dixon Avenue was sworn in. She mentioned that she frequently drives by 67 Wisteria Drive and noted that the Hauser residence is consistently well-maintained and visually appealing. She commented that the narrow driveway does not significantly impact the parking situation as a result of the proposed addition.

Cristy Tokar, 48 Wisteria Drive, was sworn in. She inquired about the accessibility of safety or utility vehicles to the backyard if necessary.

Mr. Jacques provided clarification that the application had been thoroughly reviewed and subsequently approved by both the Oakwood Public Safety Department and the Oakwood Public Works Department, with no indication that governmental services might be disrupted.

Mary Hauser, Applicant, was sworn in. She commented on parking and said that they will have no more than two cars for the next 10 years.

Gerald Sanders, 55 Wisteria Drive, was sworn in. He said that the Hausers are a great family but they are outgrowing their home. They keep it well-maintained, and he would like to see them stay in the neighborhood.

Elizabeth Hawkins, 68 Wisteria Drive, was sworn in. She shared concerns regarding the parking arrangements for visiting vehicles.

Mr. Endsley closed the public hearing.

Ms. Yankel inquired about the number of parking spaces allowed in the driveway.

Mr. Jacques clarified that the driveway looks to be at least 40’ long between the front and rear building lines, which would permit at least two parking spaces.

Mr. Endsley noted that if the property complies with the Code concerning parking, which it does, any overflow parking issues are not pertinent to this application.

Ms. Yankel inquired whether the proposed addition would be noticeable from E. Schantz Avenue. In response, Mr. Hauser indicated that the neighboring property between his property and E. Schantz Avenue has a steep grade at the sidewalk level. As a result the addition will not be prominently noticeable from E. Schantz Avenue.

Mr. O’Connor thanked everyone for their input. He then shared concerns with this application relating to access to the backyard, the setback variance seems significant to him, and he hesitates to approve just because other houses have done it. He expressed concern that widening the house on a narrow lot may not meet the character of the zoning requirements.
