An Ordinance Creating a Fee Structure for the Use of the County Firearms Training Range

WHEREAS, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department has established a firearms training range near the Highway Department on east Jackson Street in Delaware County, and;

WHEREAS, the Delaware County Sheriff works with other police departments throughout Indiana and the Midwest, and those other departments use the firearms training range for training their work force on the proper use of firearms, and;

WHEREAS, the firearms training range was created and is maintained using Delaware County tax funds and the expense of maintaining the range should be borne by the users and;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish a new fee structure for the use of the firearms training range.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DELAWARE COUNTY, INDIANA THAT:

The Delaware County Code shall be amended by adding a new section.
2.
Section 1-8-12. Firearms Training Range Fees:
A. Tier One
i.

This tier is for use of the firearms training range by local Delaware County agencies as well as Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Natural Resources Officers, those federal agencies that provide specialized training to our local departments.

ii.

The cost under this tier shall be $0

B. Tier Two
i.

This tier is for those agencies that are located and based outside of Delaware County and related state entities such as Indiana SWAT Challenge, Indiana SWAT Officers Association and similar entities.

ii.

The cost under this tier shall be $100 per day.

iii.

The fee could be waived by the Sheriff’s department if the visiting agency allows at least two (2) Delaware County deputies to enroll in the training at no cost or the training is conducted jointly with Delaware County Sheriff’s Department.
