CITY OF OAKWOOD

The Council of the City of Oakwood, State of Ohio, met in a work session at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of the City of Oakwood, 30 Park Avenue, Oakwood, Ohio 45419. Council then met in a regular session at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the City of Oakwood.

The meeting was streamed live from the Oakwood city website and telecast live on Cable Access Channel 6.

The Mayor, Mr. William Duncan, presided, and the Clerk, Ms. Lori Stacel, recorded. Mayor Duncan asked all present to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mrs. Jackson advised Council she had read the meeting minutes of the July 7, 2025, regular session, special session, and work session. Mrs. Jackson reported that she found the minutes to be correct and complete. Therefore, it was moved by Mrs. Jackson and seconded by Vice Mayor Byington that the minutes of the sessions of Council aforementioned be approved as written and the reading thereof at this session be dispensed with. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, same passed unanimously, and it was so ordered.

STATUS REPORTS – NONE
VISITORS

Miami Valley Hospital – Cardiac Save Challenge Coins: Daniel Rihm, a representative from Miami Valley Hospital, recognized Oakwood Public Safety personnel for their lifesaving response to a cardiac emergency on March 11, 2025. Officers responded to a call for shortness of breath and found a 68-year-old male in full cardiac arrest. CPR and other life-saving measures were immediately administered, and the patient was transported to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU and discharged on March 17 with a full recovery and positive neurological outcome.

Mr. Rihm presented Cardiac Save Challenge Coins to Lieutenant Justin Slone, Public Safety Officers Steve Norris, Joe Dues, Kyle Sewert, Chris Warrick, and the Community Hero Award to Dispatcher Carly Weishaar in recognition of their outstanding service.

Mayor Duncan expressed appreciation to the Oakwood Public Safety Department for their continued efforts and timely response to emergencies.

Vice Mayor Byington encouraged residents to learn CPR, noting its educational value and the importance of being prepared to assist in emergencies.
