Project Understanding

BW Construction proposes to provide professional consulting and design coordination services for the Delaware County Justice Center located in Muncie, Indiana. The scope of work involves a comprehensive review of existing architectural and life-safety plans, with a focus on code compliance, permitting readiness, and adaptive reuse of select interior spaces.

The primary areas of concern include:

• The existing auditorium, which is intended to be utilized at full seating capacity but currently does not meet applicable egress requirements.
• The back-of-house maintenance and file storage areas, which are not compliant with current local and State of Indiana building and fire codes and require modification to support adaptive reuse.

BW Construction will lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team to evaluate existing conditions, identify deficiencies, and develop compliant solutions suitable for permitting and construction.

Project Team

BW Construction will serve as the prime consultant and project coordinator and will lead a qualified team consisting of:

• Licensed Architect DCCM (Previously RQAW) from Original BOT
• Licensed Professional Engineer(s) (Structural, MEPF and/or life-safety as required)
• Code Compliance and Life Safety Officials with expertise in Indiana Building Code, Indiana Fire Code, and applicable NFPA standards

All reviews and recommendations will be performed in alignment with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
