OAKWOOD CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION

NOVEMBER 6, 2017

The Council of the city of Oakwood, Ohio, met in a work session on Monday, November 6, 2017 in the conference room of the Oakwood Municipal Building, 30 Park Avenue. The Mayor of the city, William Duncan, presided.

Council members in attendance were Mayor William Duncan, Vice Mayor Steve Byington, Councilmember Rob Stephens, Councilmember Anne Hilton and Councilmember Chris Epley. Staff in attendance were City Manager Norbert Klopsch and City Attorney Rob Jacques.

Mayor Duncan called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and began by reviewing the agenda for the regular session this evening.

Thereafter, Mayor Duncan led a discussion on the following agenda items:

  • VISITORS
    • Scarecrow Row Contest Winners: Mr. Klopsch noted that the winners of the Scarecrow Row contest will be recognized at the regular session this evening.
    • 2017 Beautification Award Winners: Mr. Klopsch reported that Assistant City Manager Jay Weiskircher has once again assembled a nice video featuring the annual beautification award winners. Each of the winners were invited to attend the regular session this evening.
  • LEGISLATION: Council discussed the following five items of legislation on the agenda for the regular session this evening:
    • Resolution to dedicate and name Cook Park.
    • Ordinance to approve updates to the Traffic and General Offenses Codes.
    • Ordinance to appropriate funds for the MVCC Broadband Fiber Optic Infrastructure Project.
    • Ordinance to adjust the Sanitary Sewer Rates.
    • Public hearing to consider an application submitted by JZ Construction on behalf of RCR Holdings, LLC to amend the Sugar Camp/Pointe Oakwood Master Plan with respect to a 4.3 acre parcel located east of Sugar Camp Circle and north of W. Schantz Avenue, and special use approval for the purpose of constructing a 22,000 sf, 3-story office building on said parcel.

      • 2018 Budget: Mr. Klopsch noted that he and Finance Director Cindy Stafford are now assembling the final version of the 2018 Budget, consistent with presentations made to the citizen Budget Review Committee in September and in October.
