Estimated Restoration Cost — Up to $2.5 Million
Preliminary assessments indicate that the total cost of the restoration project could be up to $2.5 million.
Importantly, the $2.5 million estimate is intended to encompass the complete restoration project, including construction of a new/replacement communications facility building at the site. The building is not an additional or separate funding request.
The preliminary $2.5 million estimate may include:
- Construction of a new/replacement communications facility building.
- Replacement of flood-damaged radio communications equipment and hardware.
- Replacement of damaged connections and supporting infrastructure.
- Installation and configuration of replacement equipment.
- Restoration of communications connectivity.
- Testing and system integration.
- Engineering and technical services are required to return the facility to reliable operation.
- Site work and other necessary restoration activities associated with the replacement facility.
- Appropriate measures to protect the restored communications infrastructure from future flooding.
The $2.5 million figure is a preliminary total project estimate and may be refined as detailed engineering assessments, site evaluations, building requirements, and equipment evaluations are completed.
Restoration and Resilience
The county recognizes that the communications facility must be restored to protect this critical public safety infrastructure from future flooding.
Because the August 12–13 event demonstrated a vulnerability that had never previously been experienced at this location, the replacement facility and communications infrastructure should be designed and constructed with appropriate consideration for flood protection and resilience.
The goal is to restore the facility, replace the damaged communications infrastructure, and provide a reliable public safety communications site that will support Delaware County for years to come.
