MINUTES OF COMBINED COMMISSION WORKING & REGULAR SESSION
MEETING HELD MONDAY, APRIL 7, 2025, BEGINNING AT 9:00 A.M. IN
DUCHESNE, UTAH
Chairman Miles welcomed everyone to the meeting.
The parties opened the two bids received for the 12000 West Road improvement project.
- BH Inc - $1,070,025.00
- Staker & Parson Companies DBA Burdick Materials - $999,975.00
The Commissioners allowed the staff and Jones & DeMille Engineering time to review the bids.
Brock Harrison with Jones & DeMille Engineering reported that all required documentation was received from both bidders. He recommended that the bid be awarded to the lowest bidder, Staker Parson DBA Burdick Materials, for $999,975.00. The parties discussed the bids. Commissioner Killian made a motion to accept Burdick Materials' bid for $999,975.00. Commissioner Chugg seconded the motion. Commissioner Killian voted aye, Commissioner Chugg voted aye, and Commissioner Miles voted aye. The motion passed.
Emergency Management Director Josh Phillips explained that a Wildland meeting at the EOC last week included a roundtable discussion. One concern was communication, especially radios. The parties discussed the snowpack and that, currently, there are no forecasted issues. The season burn window is open until the end of May, weather permitting. They are encouraging the public to obtain a burn permit before burning. The parties discussed an app the state promotes and adding it to the county's website.
Library Director Daniel Mauchley presented a list of accomplishments of 2024 and the 2025 goals, including the events offered and attended, operating finances, summer reading, collection make-up, patron count, transfers, computer and wireless usage, and circulation totals. The parties discussed the remodeling of the Duchesne Library and the Irene Hansen Building. There is an open house on Saturday, April 12, 2025, starting at 10:00 am. The History Center in Duchesne is expanding with its additional space. He described the different activities and meetings the library community rooms are used for.
