• MISCELLANEOUS
    • Mr. Kuzma and Mr. Spitler updated Council on traffic visibility concerns at the intersection of Far Hills Avenue and Rubicon Road. A traffic engineering consultant is reviewing to determine what may be needed to address the issues.
    • Mr. Spitler informed Council that Gary Rolfes has announced his upcoming retirement.
    • Mrs. Turben requested an update on the water study being conducted by Fishbeck Engineering. Mr. Kuzma noted that it is nearing completion.
    • Mr. Spitler provided an update on the City’s leaf collection program. Leaves are just now beginning to fall, so the program will continue longer than usual until all leaves are collected.
    • Mrs. Smiddy updated Council on the park project, noting that Bayer Becker will be sending out the community survey soon.
    • Mrs. Smiddy informed Council of her recent meeting with Oakwood United Soccer Club. The people who attended on behalf of OUSC were not the group’s decision makers, so another meeting will be scheduled in about a month. A lengthy discussion followed.
    • Mrs. Smiddy noted that the Oakwood Scene newsletter will be distributed as an insert within the Oakwood Register going forward, which saves approximately $5,700 per year. She anticipates doing a community survey in the near future to determine public communication preferences.
    • Mrs. Smiddy provided an update on the recent Raftelis organizational assessment and her efforts to roll out information to employees.
    • Mr. Jacques briefed Council on settlements made in pending national class-action litigation involving manufacturers of PFAS chemicals. The City intends to retain class counsel, at no cost to the City, to make a claim under Phase II of the settlement.
    • Mr. Jacques updated Council on 50 Park Avenue, a small business property that is currently for sale.
    • Council discussed the request made by Brad Eaton at the October regular session. Mr. Eaton owns two food truck businesses and wants the City to simplify its food truck permit process for food trucks that serve beverages only. Council did not see a reason to treat Mr. Eaton’s food trucks differently than any other, or to deviate from the current permit process.
    • Mr. Jacques updated Council on the status of an anticipated special use application for the Russel Total Wealth & Wellness building at Sugar Camp. Nothing has been received to date.

At 7:26 p.m., Mayor Duncan concluded the work session, and Council moved to regular session.
