• COUNCIL COMMITTEES
    • Planning & Zoning, Vice Mayor Byington
      • Sign Ordinance Update: Mr. Klopsch reported that staff is working on several amendments to the Oakwood sign ordinance. As a zoning code text amendment, the matter will first go to the Planning Commission for a recommendation, and will then be presented to City Council for approval. Staff is planning to present the code revisions to the Planning Commission at the February 6, 2019 meeting.
    • Public Properties, Mr. Epley
      • Shafor Park Tennis Courts: Mr. Klopsch reported that the tennis court project is officially closed and the Schools have been billed for their 25% of the project cost.
    • Public Utilities/Waterworks/Sewer, Mr. Epley
      • Debris Disposal: Mr. Klopsch discussed the manner in which clean waste (asphalt, concrete, tree stumps, and dirt) are disposed through the City public works department.
  • BOARDS & COMMISSIONS
    • Environmental Committee, Mr. Stephens
      • Community Beautification Committee: Mr. Klopsch confirmed that Council received a draft resolution changing the name of the Environmental Committee back to the Community Beautification Committee. This resolution will be presented to Council at the January 7, 2019 public meeting.
  • MISCELLANEOUS
    • Citizen Committee Appointments: Council reviewed the list of committee members where existing terms are expiring.
    • Council Committee Assignments: Council reviewed the 2018 committee assignments. New assignments will be confirmed at the January 7, 2019 regular session.
    • Website Upgrade: Mr. Klopsch mentioned that staff is working on a complete renewal of the City's website. The existing website was created many years ago and the software is very outdated.
    • Oakwood Scene Newsletter: Mr. Klopsch mentioned that he recently met with School Superintendent Kyle Ramey and Wright Library Director Kristi Hale to discuss the bi-monthly Oakwood Scene newsletter. Over the past 10-15 years, the ten inside pages were assigned with two to Wright Library, four to the Oakwood Schools and four to the City. Beginning in 2019, the City will take six pages, and Wright Library and the Oakwood Schools will each take two pages. This will increase cost to the City by about $4,000 annually. The City will offer space in each newsletter to the Oakwood Historical Society and to the Oakwood Sister City Association.
Executive Session for Personnel Matters: Mr. Klopsch mentioned that there was no need to conduct this executive session.
There being no other business, at 7:25 p.m. Mayor Duncan adjourned the work session and City Council moved to regular session.
