The Council of the City of Oakwood, State of Ohio, met in a work session at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of the City of Oakwood, 30 Park Avenue, Oakwood, Ohio 45419. Council then met in a regular session at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the City of Oakwood.
The meeting was streamed live on the Oakwood city website and broadcast on Cable Access Channel 6.
The Vice Mayor, Mr. Steve Byington, presided, and the Clerk, Ms. Lori Stacel, recorded. Vice Mayor Byington asked all present to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance.

It was moved by Mr. Dorf and seconded by Mrs. Turben that the absence of Mayor Duncan be excused. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, same passed unanimously and it was so ordered.
Mr. Dorf advised Council he had read the meeting minutes of the May 4, 2026, regular session and work session, and the May 18, 2026 work session and executive session. Mr. Dorf reported that he found the minutes to be correct and complete. Therefore, it was moved by Mr. Dorf and seconded by Mrs. Turben that the minutes of the sessions of Council aforementioned be approved as written and the reading thereof at this session be dispensed with. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, same passed unanimously, and it was so ordered.
Citizen Committee Appointment – Vice Mayor Byington presented the appointment of Kevin Brooks to the Beautification Committee and Iris Juergens to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
It was moved by Vice Mayor Byington and seconded by Mrs. Turben the appointment be confirmed. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, the same passed unanimously, and it was so ordered.
Montgomery County Recorder’s Office Update: Nate Mundy, External Communications Manager for the Montgomery County Recorder’s Office, provided an overview of the programs and services offered by the Recorder’s Office. He highlighted resources available to property owners, including the Fraud Alert Notification (FAN) System, which helps residents monitor potential fraudulent activity involving property records. Mr. Mundy also discussed Transfer on Death designations and programs available to veterans. In response to a question from Councilmember Jackson, Mr. Mundy encouraged residents to enroll in the FAN System and noted that additional information is available on the Recorder’s Office website.
Oakwood Inclusion Coalition (OIC) 2025 Annual Report: Kate Furmanski, a member of the OIC, presented the organization’s 2025 Annual Report. She highlighted the OIC’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusion through community engagement, educational programming, and partnerships with the City of Oakwood, Oakwood City Schools, and Wright Memorial Public Library. Notable accomplishments included hosting public events and film screenings, launching the OIC’s first
