the Self-funded Health Insurance Plans sponsored by Delaware County.
b.
Eligibility
i.
Retired Employees may continue coverage for themselves provided the Retiree meets the following requirements:
- 1. The Employee's age plus years of service shall equal at least seventy (70) years, with a minimum of ten (10) of those years being continuous years of service with Delaware County immediately preceding the date of retirement. For elected officials serving in an office described in Article 6, Section 2, of the Indiana Constitution (clerk of the circuit court, auditor, recorder, treasurer, sheriff, coroner, or surveyor) who are prohibited from serving in that elected office for more than eight (8) years in any twelve (12) year period, the Employee’s age plus years of service shall equal at least seventy (70) years, with a minimum of eight (8) of those years being continuous years of service with Delaware County immediately preceding the date of retirement.
- 2. The years of service shall be calendar years measured based on the anniversary date of full time (i.e. benefit eligible) employment.
- 3. Eligibility for coverage shall be extended to include Delaware County Circuit Court Judges who qualify under the age and years of service requirement as noted in this Ordinance.
- 4. Retirees who were eligible for retirement coverage under the previous ordinance(s) will continue retirement benefits, however retirement coverage will fall under the rules and contribution schedules(s) written in this ordinance or future ordinances.
- 5. An Employee who is eligible as determined by age and years of service, but who at the time of retirement also is covered as retiree from previous employment (for any employer), shall be ineligible for coverage as a retiree of Delaware County.
c.
Participation Requirements
- i. The Employee must be covered on the health insurance plan at the time of retirement.
- ii. If a Retiree cancels coverage for himself/herself at any time, the Retiree cannot re-enroll at a later date.
- iii. If an eligible Retiree seeks full-time employment elsewhere and participates in that employer's health insurance plan, the new employer's health insurance shall be primary and Delaware County coverage shall be
