        Beautification Awards Recognition: Mr. Klopsch discussed a suggestion that was made by Mr. Stephens last year regarding the beautification awards recognition. Mr. Klopsch proposed a new plan to conduct the first recognition event at the July council meeting (May and June winners) and the second recognition event at the September meeting (July and August winners.)

        Basketball Court Reopening and Rules: Mr. Klopsch reviewed proposed rules and regulations for the use of basketball courts at Shafor Park and Orchardly Park. Mr. Klopsch also shared plans for reopening the two courts… possibly in April or May.
    • o Streets & Alleys, Mr. Stephens

        Street Lighting: Mr. Klopsch shared that staff has been working with Miami Valley Lighting (MVL) to address the ongoing migration to LED street lights. Oakwood’s street lights currently use HPS fixtures to provide a softer light, but as lights begin to fail, MVL will install LEDs.

        2021 Asphalt Roadway Resurfacing: Mr. Klopsch discussed the scope of the 2021 Asphalt Pavement Program, including recommendation to add the following four roadways to the program: Patterson Road between Far Hills and E. Schantz, Runnymede Road, Sweetwood Lane and Runnymede Lane. Mr. Klopsch will present a supplemental appropriation ordinance at the March 1 Council meeting to address this increase in the scope.

        Member and Alternate: Mr. Klopsch confirmed that Council plans to reappoint Vice Mayor Byington as Oakwood’s MVRPC Board Member, and Mayor Duncan as Alternate.
    • o Historical Society, Mrs. Hilton

        Historic Marker Program: Mr. Klopsch shared that Debra Edwards, a member of the Oakwood Historical Society, will provide a presentation on the Historic Marker Program at the March 1 council meeting.
  • • MISCELLANEOUS

      Oakwood Inclusion Coalition: Mr. Klopsch reported that the Oakwood Inclusion Coalition (OIC) met for its first general membership meeting last Wednesday evening. About 100 people attended the virtual meeting via Zoom and it went very well. Mr. Klopsch commented that the success of the OIC is dependent upon adherence to the organization’s establishing documents, the diversity of the coalition, and the degree to which the work of the OIC reaches deeply into the community. The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28.

      Policy and Procedure Binder, and Codification: Mr. Klopsch asked if Council wished to continue receiving hardcopy updates to their Administrative & Council Policies and Procedures binder and Codification binders. Council was open to the suggestion to go 100% electronic. The codification is already posted to the city website. Mr. Klopsch will see that staff provides a means for City Council to also access the Policies and Procedures binder via the website.

      Wright Library Project: Mr. Klopsch mentioned that Director Kristi Hale will attend the April 5 council meeting to provide an update on the library improvement project.
