OAKWOOD CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION

AUGUST 21, 2017

The Council of the city of Oakwood, Ohio, met in a work session on Monday, August 21, 2017 in the conference room of the Oakwood Municipal Building, 30 Park Avenue. The Mayor of the city, William Duncan, presided.

Council members in attendance were Mayor William Duncan, Vice Mayor Steve Byington, Councilmember Rob Stephens, Councilmember Anne Hilton and Councilmember Chris Epley. Staff in attendance were City Manager Norbert Klopsch and City Attorney Rob Jacques.

Mayor Duncan called the work session to order at 6:30 p.m. and began by reviewing the agenda for the regular session this evening. Mayor Duncan then asked for a motion to go to executive session for personnel matters. At 6:41 p.m., Mr. Epley made a motion to go to executive session for personnel matters; second by Mr. Stephens. Upon viva voce vote, motion passed.

At 6:55 p.m., Mayor Duncan adjourned the executive session and Council moved back to regular work session.

Mayor Duncan then led a discussion on the following agenda items:

  • STATUS REPORTS
    • Water and Sewer Line Maintenance Foreman: Mr. Klopsch noted that he will introduce Chris Harold at the regular session this evening. Mr. Harold is the new water and sewer line maintenance foreman, replacing Mike Wenclewicz who retired at the end of May.
    • Mayor Duncan mentioned that he will present a proclamation at the regular session recognizing September as “Prostate Cancer Awareness Month”.
  • VISITORS
    • Helen Jones-Kelley, Human Services Levy Campaign: Mayor Duncan noted that Mrs. Jones-Kelly will make a presentation at the regular session this evening asking for a yes vote on the Human Services levy renewal that will be on the November ballot.
  • LEGISLATION: Mayor Duncan stated that there was no legislation on the agenda for the regular session this evening.
  • STAFF REPORT – LAW DEPARTMENT: Mr. Jacques explained that he will make a PowerPoint presentation at the regular session this evening addressing the maintenance of trees in Oakwood.
  • COUNCIL COMMITTEES
    • Finance, Vice Mayor Byington
