CITY OF OAKWOOD

The Council of the city of Oakwood, State of Ohio, met in a work session at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor training room of the city of Oakwood, 30 Park Avenue, Oakwood, Ohio, 45419. Council then met in a regular session at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the city of Oakwood.

The meeting was streamed live from the Oakwood city website, telecast live on Cable Access Channel 6 and was available via remote teleconferencing utilizing the Zoom platform.

The Mayor, Mr. William Duncan, presided, and the Clerk, Ms. Lori Stacel, recorded. Mayor Duncan asked all present to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance.

It was moved by Vice Mayor Byington and seconded by Mr. Stephens that the absence of Mrs. Hilton be excused. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, same passed unanimously and it was so ordered.

Vice Mayor Byington advised Council he had read the meeting minutes of the March 6, 2023 regular session, work session and executive session, and March 27, 2023 work session and executive session. Vice Mayor Byington reported he found the minutes correct and complete. Therefore, it was moved by Vice Mayor Byington and seconded by Mrs. Turben that the minutes of the sessions of Council aforementioned be approved as written and the reading thereof at this session be dispensed with. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, same passed unanimously and it was so ordered.

Oakwood Public Safety Department – Mayor Duncan recognized the fine services provided by the Oakwood Public Safety Department.

Recently, there was a 9-1-1 cardiac emergency medic call where a quick response time and advanced medical training and equipment helped to save the patient’s life. A month before this medic call, the patient was diagnosed as being cancer free after a six year battle with cancer. The patient recently celebrated his 50^th wedding anniversary.

Also recently, during an overnight traffic stop on a vehicle without a registration, an Oakwood Public Safety Officer observed several pieces of open and unopened mail in the vehicle. After further investigation, a U.S.P.S. mailbox key was discovered in a cell phone case. As of last week, the subject is facing felony charges.
