Mr. Spitler displayed a line graph showing cardboard collection trends over the past ten years. The line graph showed a consistent increase in cardboard collection each year. In 2022, the city delivered cardboard to Rumpke and received market-based revenue of $13,214.
The next Oakwood Rotary hazardous waste pick-up event is on Saturday, April 22. Citizens desiring a pick up should call (937) 296-5155 before noon on Friday, April 21 and leave their name and address.
From December 2022 to March 2023, the Public Works Department responded to five winter weather events. The department used 741 tons of salt totaling $62,229 through the winter season.
Mr. Spitler shared several personnel changes that have occurred. Vere Mason retired in December 2022; The Public Works Department welcomed Todd White, General Service Worker on November 7, 2022; Cade Wallace, General Service Worker on November 14, 2022; Joshua Deyak, General Service Worker on March 6, 2023; Cameron Daniel, General Service Worker on March 20, 2023; and Jaycob Burns, Water & Sewer Technician on March 27, 2023.
Mrs. Turben asked when the city’s next document shred event will occur.
Mr. Spitler explained that this year’s event date has not yet been confirmed. The shred event is scheduled in the fall, typically in September.
Mayor Duncan shared that as a member of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) he has learned that the Montgomery County Solid Waste District is considered a state-of-the-art facility and Oakwood is recognized as a leader in recycling. He thanked Mr. Spitler and the Public Works Department for their efforts.

COUNCIL COMMENTS
Mrs. Turben shared that the “Wright at Home” event is scheduled for Sunday, April 23. Additional information on the event is available on The Oakwood Historical Society’s website.
Mr. Stephens welcomed PSO Dues. He reported that as Chairman of the Miami Valley Communications Council (MVCC) Board, Executive Director Jay Weiskircher’s contract was extended to 2025. MVCC has been integral in supporting its eight member cities. He closed his comments by thanking Mr. Spitler and the Public Works Department for their fine work.
Vice Mayor Byington reminded everyone that The Friends of Smith Gardens “Perennial Sale” will be held on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 at the Oakwood Community Center.
Mayor Duncan shared that 53 years ago, he and his wife had their first date watching the Harlem Globetrotters at the University of Dayton Arena. They were married three years later and will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in December.
