Squad. This year's event will feature live performances by Elite Dance Center, School of Rock, and Black Belt World, along with a dunk tank, provided by Somerville Recreation. Free hot dogs, drinks, and snacks will be provided by community partners.

The Somerville YMCA will offer free classes to Somerville residents at Michael Lep Pool Park on Park Avenue on August 10, 12, and 14, 2026. The program is designed to help young children become more comfortable and confident in and around the water while learning water safety skills. Two sessions will run each day. Space is limited, and residents are asked to register on the Community Pass website under summer programs.

Councilmember Stravic asked what prompted this change.
Administrator Sluka explained the change was requested so this facility can compete with a similar facility on Route 206. He said the change would make the hours match Monday through Saturday and noted that the borough receives transfer tax revenue from cannabis sales. Earlier opening hours are expected to increase that revenue.
6. Oath of Office
The Council returned to agenda item 6. Officer Eric A. Melendez came forward for his oath of office, which was administered by Kevin Sluka.
The Police Chief presented department awards to several officers. Mayor Gallagher thanked the Police Department for its work and service to the community.
