Green Oakwood: There are approximately 800 followers on the “Green Oakwood” Facebook page. City staff is in regular contact with the group and partners with them to provide additional recycling services to the Oakwood community.
Le Vésinet... 50th and Outremont... 45th: Oakwood has two sister cities: Le Vésinet, France, a suburb of Paris, and Outremont, Canada, a suburb of Montreal. Council Member Leigh Turben and her husband Dan will be representing Oakwood City Council next month for a 50th twinning celebration in Le Vésinet, France. Oakwood will also be celebrating a 45th twinning anniversary with Outremont in October. Oakwood also has a friendship pact with Unterhaching, Germany, a suburb of Munich.
Oakwood Inclusion Coalition: The Oakwood Inclusion Coalition (OIC) mission focuses on removing all stereotypes and negative perceptions about Oakwood that may still exist, and to promote an inclusive, equitable, diverse, and welcoming environment and community for all. 2021 FINANCIAL AUDIT: Mrs. Stafford reported that the audit of the 2021 city finances was recently completed by Plattenburg & Associates. No items were noted and an unqualified “Clean” opinion is forthcoming.
2021 FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS: Mrs. Stafford reviewed the following 2021 highlights:
Total spending for General City Services was $13.42 million.
General City Services receipts were 115.94% for the year and disbursements were 94.31% of budget. The City received $468,000 of unbudgeted revenue from the American Rescue Plan Act and the economy continues to rebound positively impacting income tax receipts.
Refuse Fund receipts were 101.76% for the year and disbursements were 95.98% of budget. The budget included capital expenditures for the purchase of a new refuse packer and four new refuse scooters.
Enterprise Funds receipts were 100.62% for the year and disbursements were 95.03% of budget. The Enterprise Funds include Water, Sanitary Sewer and Stormwater. She explained that most of the sewer costs are driven by Montgomery County and the city of Dayton for wastewater treatment services.
2022 FINANCIALS THROUGH APRIL: Mrs. Stafford noted that General City Services receipts through April are at 41.37% of budget, while disbursements and encumbrances are at 48.84% of budget. Refuse Fund receipts through April are at 34.48% of budget and disbursements and encumbrances are at 47.44% of budget. Enterprise Fund receipts through April are at 29.91% of budget and disbursements and encumbrances are at 44.67% of budget.
