• LEGISLATION: Council discussed the following four items of legislation to be addressed at the regular session agenda this evening:
    • An Ordinance to raise refuse rates, Mr. Epley
    • An Ordinance to amend existing Section 505.01, Pets at Large, of the Oakwood General Offences Code, Mr. Stephens
    • An Ordinance to adopt new Section 375.09, Low-Speed Vehicles, Under-Speed Vehicles, Utility Vehicles, and Mini-Trucks, of the Oakwood Traffic Code, Mr. Stephens
    • A Resolution to change the name of the Oakwood Environmental Committee to the Oakwood Beautification Committee, Mayor Duncan

    • Planning & Zoning, Vice Mayor Byington
      • Sign Ordinance: Mr. Klopsch reviewed the timetable for proposing and approving changes to the Zoning Code as it pertains to installation and operation of various signs. The matter will first be discussed in Council's work session on January 28, and then in public hearings before the Planning Commission on March 6 and City Council on April 1. Assuming the changes are approved at those two meetings, the matter regarding the OCC sign will be revisited at the May 1 Planning Commission meeting.
      • 168 Old River Trail: Mr. Klopsch reported on the status of the new home construction underway at 168 Old River Trail. Due to soil stability concerns, construction ceased approximately two months ago. A safety fence will be erected around the construction site until the time that construction can resume, or the project is abandoned.
    • Public Properties, Mr. Epley
      • Shafor Park Tennis Facility: Mr. Klopsch mentioned that staff will complete a thorough inspection of the new tennis facility this spring and will see that the contractor repairs any defects.
      • Parks Master Plan: Mr. Klopsch noted that a 2019 goal for the Department of Leisure Services is to develop a Master Plan for improvements to the three primary Oakwood parks. This will be done with in-house labor and will create a roadmap for possible park improvements over the next five years.
      • Alumni Plaza and Schantz Avenue: Mr. Klopsch mentioned that he and Oakwood School Superintendent Kyle Ramey recently met with an Oakwood resident to discuss possible roadway changes along E. Schantz Avenue between Dellwood and Spirea. This discussion took place recognizing that the Schools plan to build an Alumni Plaza along the west side of E. Schantz Avenue this summer.
    • Public Utilities/Waterworks/Sewer, Mr. Epley
      • Recycling Market: Mr. Klopsch reported that the February/March issue of the Oakwood Scene newsletter will include a detailed description of the City's refuse and recycling program.
