The leaf mulch program, where the leaves collected in Oakwood last fall are processed and turned into mulch, will take place on five Saturdays from April 14 to May 12. Residents may call the Public Works Center at 937-298-0777 to place an order. Mulch picked up at the public works yard is available at no cost to Oakwood citizens. For those who want mulch delivered, the city offers 3 cubic yards for $90 and 6 cubic yards for $130.
The 2017 Annual Report will be delivered to every Oakwood resident the week of March 26.
Mrs. Hilton asked if the speed limit changed on Shroyer Road.
Mr. Klopsch confirmed that the speed limit has not changed.
Mr. Stephens shared that he receives a lot of compliments on the Shroyer Road updates.
Mr. Stephens congratulated Detective Norris. He added that it is a blessing to know that crime in this City was addressed. Mr. Stephens thanked Chief Hill for his well-done presentation.
Vice Mayor Byington shared that City Council and city staff received a lot of citizen input regarding the Shroyer Road Project. There were varying opinions on the project and many different viewpoints were shared. City Council and staff always strive to make the best possible decision for the community, after considering all of the factors and input. City Council, as representatives of the city of Oakwood, plans to make the best decisions on the tennis court project. Mr. Byington congratulated the Oakwood High School Academic Decathlon Team for winning the State Title for the eighth straight year. He congratulated Wright State University and Texas Tech, and added Go Raiders!
Mayor Duncan commented on the incident that occurred when the Oakwood Public Works employee was injured in a collapsed trench. He shared that a request was sent out for mutual aid, and the following jurisdictions responded: Beavercreek Fire Department; Brookville Fire Department; Butler Township Fire Department; Dayton Fire Department; Englewood Fire Department; Greenville Fire Department; Huber Heights Fire Department; Kettering Fire Department; Moraine Fire Department; Pleasant Township Fire Department; Sidney Fire Department; Sugarcreek Township Fire Department; Union Fire Department; Washington Township Fire Department; Wright-Patterson Air Force Base; Vandalia Fire Department; and Region 3 Rescue Strike Team.
Mayor Duncan shared that City Manager Klopsch and Chief Hill sent thank you letters to each jurisdiction, but he wanted to publically acknowledge them as well. He appreciates the efforts of everyone that came to the Oakwood employee's aid. He reported that, thankfully, the employee is okay and will be released back to work soon.
