Whereas, the Borough of Somerville and the Borough of Raritan, both located in the

County of Somerset, have developed a unique and productive relationship through the

successful interlocal sharing of personnel, including but not limited to the areas of

finance, public works, and property maintenance; and

Whereas, both Boroughs are members of the same Joint Insurance Fund and utilize

other shared vendors, including vendors providing technology services; and

Whereas, from time to time, each municipality may require equipment, products or

services that the other municipality may possess, and the temporary sharing or lending

of such equipment, products or services may be beneficial to the requesting municipality

and result in cost savings and operational efficiencies for the taxpayers of both

communities; and

provide or receive any service that each local unit is empowered to provide or receive

within its own jurisdiction; and

Whereas, the Borough of Somerville desires to authorize an agreement with the

Borough of Raritan that will allow for the general sharing or lending of equipment and

the provision of temporary services between the two municipalities; and

Whereas, the Borough Council has determined that entering into such an agreement is

in the best interest of the Borough of Somerville and its residents.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Borough Council of the Borough of Somerville,

County of Somerset, State of New Jersey, as follows:

The Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute an

agreement with the Borough of Raritan, in a form approved by the Borough Attorney,

providing for the general sharing or lending of equipment and the provision of temporary

services between the Borough of Somerville and the Borough of Raritan, pursuant to
