2.23.6 Exit Interview

Upon termination of the employment relationship with an employee, exit interviews may be scheduled with the elected official/department head. Upon termination employees are directed to contact the Human Resources Department regarding compensation and benefits questions.

2.23.7 Final Paycheck

Employees receive a final paycheck upon separation of employment. Any accrued but unused PTO and/or compensatory time are paid in the employee's last paycheck as described in applicable policies in this Handbook. Exiting employees receive their last paycheck at the next regular payday after their last day of work. Employees that are leaving the County's employment shall be paid for any accumulated (carryover) and unused personal time off as per the County policy. The employee's full insurance premium will be deducted from the employee's final paycheck to maintain consistency with the terms of the plan.

2.23.8 Termination of Benefits

2.23.8.1 Accrued Personal Time Off (PTO) and Compensatory Time

Earned but unused PTO leave will be paid in accordance with the County's policies as outlined in Section 6 of this Handbook. Accrued PTO and/or compensatory time for eligible employees shall be paid in the last paycheck.

2.23.8.2 Pay out of accumulated (carryover) PTO

In the event that an employee separates from employment either by resignation (not in lieu of termination) or retirement and the employee has continuous service of at least fifteen (15) years of employment, then the employee shall receive one-half of their accumulated (carryover) PTO in their final paycheck.

2.23.8.3 Accumulated (carryover) PTO Not Paid Out

In the event that an employee separates from employment either by resignation in lieu of termination or a reduction in force, the employee is not entitled to receive their accumulated (carryover) PTO in their final paycheck.

2.23.8.4 Use of PTO and Accumulated (carryover) PTO.

In the event that an employee has fifteen (15) years of continuous service, has accumulated (carryover) PTO, and also received their annual PTO and decides to resign or retire, then the resigning or retiring employee shall use their annual PTO until their separation date and then shall be paid one-half of their accumulated (carryover) PTO as part of their final paycheck.

2.23.8.5 Health Insurance
