City of Oakwood

The Council of the City of Oakwood, State of Ohio, met in a work session at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of the City of Oakwood, 30 Park Avenue, Oakwood, Ohio 45419. Council then met in a regular session at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the City of Oakwood.

The meeting was streamed live on the Oakwood city website and broadcast on Cable Access Channel 6.

The Mayor, Mr. William Duncan, presided, and the Clerk, Ms. Lori Stacel, recorded. Mayor Duncan asked all present to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Dorf advised Council he had read the meeting minutes of the April 6, 2026, regular session and work session, and the April 20, 2026 work session. Mr. Dorf reported that he found the minutes to be correct and complete. Therefore, it was moved by Mr. Dorf and seconded by Mrs. Turben that the minutes of the sessions of Council aforementioned be approved as written and the reading thereof at this session be dispensed with. Upon a viva voce vote on the question of the motion, same passed unanimously, and it was so ordered.

STATUS REPORTS

Fishbeck Water System Review – Mayor Duncan noted that the City of Oakwood operates its own municipal water system and, considering pending Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, engaged consultants to conduct an assessment of the system. Council previously reviewed this matter during a work session and requested that the findings be presented to residents.

Public Works Director Doug Spitler introduced the consultants from Fishbeck and provided an overview of Oakwood’s water system, noting the goal of evaluating current conditions and developing a long-term plan.

Brad Siefker of Fishbeck presented a high-level overview of the evaluation of the City’s water supply and Water Treatment Plant capacity. The evaluation builds upon the firm’s 2023 study and includes an analysis of current and projected water demands to identify trends and long-term system needs.
